Chemung County records are split among the Sheriff, the criminal courts in and around Elmira, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), the state correctional system, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. This private reference site organizes those official routes so a reader can identify the proper custodian, request method, search portal, address, or telephone line with less guesswork.

Why We Built This Site

New York does not place every criminal record in one public database. Chemung Sheriff Records holds county-agency reports and booking material, while the clerk of the court of origin keeps charges, docket events, and dispositions. DCJS provides fingerprint-based Personal Record Review to the subject of the record. New York Courts provides separate public court-search products, and DOCCS maintains state custody records. The registry is another distinct DCJS system. We arrange verified office details, access limits, fees, and request steps around those differences.
